What is Rooted?

A community space in Hoboken for mothers to gather with each other and their little ones.

What happens here depends entirely on what you need that day.

Drink a coffee. Watch your baby play. Talk to another mom. Sit with your newborn and do absolutely nothing. Bring a friend. Work on your laptop. Join a gathering. Eat lunch. Start a knitting club.

  • Go! Run!! Rooted is what I needed when I was alone post partum and wanted to meet other moms, and leave the house while still being able to be with my son doing something he loves too. The moment I heard about Rooted I immediately wanted to go. I did feel scared and shy, because I rarely take myself out of my comfort zone but everyone was so nice, and so genuine. They all came to talk to me and welcome me. I immediately felt accepted, and I immediately wished I had found Rooted sooner.

  • Since I didn’t have close relatives near me my first year of motherhood, it felt so lonely even tough I would go to art classes gym classes etc there was never a connection with other moms a really deep connection. Then, we found Rooted and we made friendships that layered motherhood in another level. I am so grateful for Rooted now that I am pregnant with my second baby I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

  • Rooted gave me a place to go. I finally had reason and motivation to get out the house. It made me put myself out there, and talk to moms when I’d normally feel too shy to do so. That’s exactly what I wanted too, but it’s hard to find a community with people who are in a similar stage of life as you, so Rooted makes it easier to meet moms and being able to just relax while our little ones play safely nearby.

  • After one time I spent the early afternoon at Rooted, a lot of the moms were there and we had great conversations, it felt like we were so united. As I was leaving I called my partner and told him I’m so happy I went and I’m so glad I found Rooted.
